SUMMARY:
TEKKEN (film) is an upcoming 2010 martial arts film directed by Dwight Little, based on the fighting game series of the same name. The film follows Jin Kazama (Jon Foo) in his attempts to enter the Iron Fist Tournament in order to avenge the loss of his mother, Jun Kazama, by confronting his father, Kazuya Mishima (Ian Anthony Dale) and his grandfather, Heihachi Mishima (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa), the latters of whom he thought were responsible for her death. As of January 14th, 2010, an international preliminary-seeming trailer has finally been released.

PLOT:
In the year of 2039, after World Wars destroy much of civilization as we know it, territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations; the mightiest of which is the Mishima Zaibatsu. In order to placate the seething masses of this dystopia, Mishima sponsors the King of Iron Fist Tournament, or Tekken, in which fighters battle until one is left standing, who in turn will receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth. We are introduced to this violent world through the eyes of Jin Kazama, a rebellious teenage street fighter who enters the tournament in order to avenge the death of his mother that he blames upon the Mishima Zaibatsu's most powerful and controlling chairman – Heihachi Mishima. He knows that the only way to get close enough to Mishima to kill him is to win the tournament, but in doing so, he begins to uncover his own past and inner demons as well as exposing a dark underbelly to Tekken that threatens the very existence of humanity.

The plot as revealed by Crystal Sky Studios, who are making the film:
“In order to put to rest the ghosts of his past, Jin Kazama enters the Tekken tournament, a fierce and dangerous competition featuring the world’s best martial artists. Following close behind him is Zheng, a rebel monk looking to save Jin from his own inner demons. While on the surface Tekken appears to be the corporation of the future, Jin and Zheng expose a dark underbelly that could threaten the very threads of humanity.”

From Crystal Sky Studios and IMDB:
“Two childhood friends enter the world’s largest fighting tournament where they have to battle deadly opponents using every form of Martial Arts known to man. As they fight both friend and foe, their journey takes them deep into the heart of the notorious Tekken Corporation, where they uncover a secret project that could change the world.”

REVIEW:
I know what you're thinking friend... it's something like... WTF? Where's Paul? Lei? Hwoarang? King? Lee? Bruce? Julia? Kuma/Panda? and the list goes on and on... Well, at least that was my first reaction. But now I'm beginning to notice why there're are few characters focused on the movie.

Maybe because we haven't realize that each character has their own story line and there are a lot, as in SO MANY characters in TEKKEN and not to mention the game has now reached TEKKEN 6... so, the storyline is now pretty much HUGE. With this being the fact, there is NO WAY you can put all those stories and characters in a single movie. So what do we do? It's focusing on one story line, and of course with additional side stories... but mainly we focus to one... and to whose story you ask? who else... but the main man JIN KAZAMA!

For what i've read so far is that the story focuses on Jin (Jon Foo), he discovers that he has great power (probably the Devil Gene) and because of this he is being chased by an elite group of fighters trying to get this from him. Then he goes out to find his grandfather in order to seek the truth of what's happening, but at this time his grandfather Heihachi announces a "King of Iron Fist" Tournament in which whoever wins becomes his personal bodyguard and will receive wealth and fame.

Well... it's good that they go with Jin's storyline. the only thing missing in that storyline is the button bashers' 2nd fave character "Hwoarang" (Eddy being the 1st favorite). Truthfully, i was really hoping for a kick-ass fight scene between these two fighting rivals, Jin and Hwoarang. But i think that's not gonna happen in the film since Hwoarang is not there.. man that sux! hehe.

Finally regarding the casts... hmm.. well, they're okay for me. excpet probably for Cung Le as Law, because he doesn't look like Bruce Lee at all! And i think Tagawa needs a lot of bulking up to look like Heihachi. Mishima At first i was having doubts as to whether Jon Foo would be able to pull off Jin Kazama, but after watching his showreel on youtube ([link]) he definitely has what it takes to be JIN! And by the way, this is cute, guess who? Chiaki Kuriyama of Kill Bill? The villain hot and deadly high school girl acting bubbly cute as Xiayou!
